Collecting Experiences — Online
COVID-19 got you feeling stuck? What are we doing to maximize this opportunity while we’re in #lockdown?
So there are two things we have, The Internet and Loads of Free online resources.
So what do I mean when I say collect experiences online?
Well, during this time we might find ourselves with an hour or two to spare every day, whether that’s the hour we used to commute or maybe your workload has slowed down during this time — so how can we make the most of this time?
We have so many amazing mediums and online resources to learn from, if you are passionate about a certain industry or field now is your time to use that extra time and get online!
You might want to perfect a specific skill or maybe just “taste” as many different things as you can to see what you like and how you can improve yourself, after all everyone wants to grow and improve.
Okay okay, we got it Jamie, but what can we do?
So firstly, I would say MAKE Google your best friend — research topics, explore, go WILD online! Remember not to play games, get caught up watching shows or time-wasting things — I mean learn, soak in as much as you can and make the most of that self-development time.
Secondly, find the medium that you enjoy the most and that fits your learning style. Here are a few examples;
Learn on the fly using YouTube and watching videos or live streams.
Subscribe to your favourite Podcasts and listen to the topics you love. Apple Podcast, Spotify, Luminary, Anchor, to name a few.
Read articles on Medium, LinkedIn, Flipboard, Lifehacker there are tons.
Take a few short online courses that you can learn in your own time; Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, Skillshare these are all great online platforms. Download the apps, you can even watch while soaking up some sunshine.
Learn a new tool or program if you’re in the Design and Tech industry, what are some of the best communication tools to use? What are the best productivity tools? What are the best social media scheduling tools? What are the best email marketing and campaign tools? What are the best CRM tools? What are the best design and website development tools? The list goes on and on, there are so many free tools or apps you can try on a trial period. Challenge yourself by learning a new tool that could potentially improve your life, your business and the way you work. All it takes is a bit of intentional time and discipline and you can open a whole new world of possibilities or maybe even unlock some hidden potential.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt
I leave you with you this; apps and tools come and go, technologies evolve but learning — that stays for life.
